Side of Stupidity, are you testing us with that list by deliberately leaving out a player who played over 500 games for them?

Sven Roeder 4:53 Tue Apr 19
Re: Obsessed much - Millwall
I'm certainly no expert as I have only seen us play Millwall 8 times since Feb 1991.

Tell us more about this Harry CRIBBS

Re: Obsessed much - Millwall
I like Northern would be unable to name any current Millwall players or no more than a handful from the last 50 years.
They havent been to our home ground for 10 years
SO HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON WITH NORTHERN SOLD AT LEAST

There is no current footballing rivalry
Its all ancient history that would only be rekindled by PLAYING EACH OTHER.
Of course Northern wouldnt be there to see it as he has given up on West Ham

It's going through gentrification like most of London. I was drinking around there recently.

MIM, are you still in Liverpool? I'm not sure if you're interested, but there's quite a contingent of us in Merseyside that I've got to know, so if you're interested in meeting up with fellow Hammers, let me know.

"South Bermondsey is a wretched fucking place, the entire area is a council estate full of wronguns."

I've often thought that. Wall were always first to say Upton Park was a shit area, but everywhere in about a 1-3 mile radius of The Den makes Green Street look posh comparison. Horrible area.

Tottenham as a shithole takes some beating as well. Crackhead central.

South Bermondsey is a wretched fucking place, the entire area is a council estate full of wronguns.

I have an office there, and every time I have to go in and get off at Surrey Quays my heart sinks.

I know some of the local businesses and they are all Wall and in fairness they are good banter it’s always a laugh but come game day it would be carnage.

Especially at our place - be impossible to police. It would be absolute carnage - I definitely wouldn’t take the kids to that one. The hatred is pure and it’s real.

I fucking hate Spurs - you can’t have a football conversation with a Spurs fan, arrogant, deluded pricks and they are our main game but if we were in the same division as Wall that massively supersede’s Spurs - however that is still a big game.

Re: Obsessed much - Millwall
Of course if we played them again it would be a large intense violent event.
The police would shit themselves trying to deal with a London Stadium match with all the open spaces and points of entry.

But none of this is about football
Couldnt name any of their current team and apart from Sheringham, Cahill & briefly H Kane I imagine most wouldnt be able to name 10 of their players over the last 50 years.

They don’t like reminding that 3 of if not the 3 biggest legends in Millwalls history are all originally West Ham youth lads - Barry Kitchener, Harry Cripps and Terry Hurlock

Was an awkward situation for me back in '66 I had three trials with them and then played for the under 16s in the south East counties league.
Dad was well pissed off that it wasn't West Ham and he seemed almost relieved that I didn't get signed up.

Eastside.

I was at the 78 game, absolute mayhem from about midday onwards. My old man first took me to UP in the mid 60's and that game in 78 was the first time i had seen us play them in a competetive game though i was at the HC testomonial. The fact that we hadn't played them in yonks did nothing to dilute the venom,we played Tottenham twice a season for years and it was a totally different atmosphere when we met, It didnt come close to matching what went on between us and Millwall.

I dont buy the 'we never play them' crap, that dosnt matter a jot,its them and them alone, always wiil be.

Re: Obsessed much - Millwall
For anyone not aware of just some of our past incidents with those we call the pikeys and who refer to us as vermin:

1906 - reports of West Ham and Millwall fans fighting at a match.
1926 - general strike which Millwall didn’t support that West Ham did
1972 - Harry Cripps testimonial, mass fighting and police recovered bottles, knives, darts and snooker balls in socks being used as lethal weapons.
1976 - Millwall fan Ian Pratt dies after being chased on to tube line by West Ham fans
1978 - mass fighting, 6 police injured and more than 70 arrested
1986 - West Ham fan Terry Burns stabbed to death by Millwall fans
2006 - both sets of fans fighting at England World Cup screening at Docklands, 16 injured and police close the venue early
2009 - Upton Park riot, Millwall fan Alan Barker stabbed and more than 20 injured
2013 - West Ham fan jailed for 12 months for organising violence between West Ham and Millwall during an FA Cup match between Dagenham & Redbridge and Millwall in 2012
2014 - Met Police took preventive measures against any trouble occurring at under 21’s match between the sides demanding the game at Rush Green kick-off at 12pm and be played behind closed doors

Re: Obsessed much - Millwall
I went to the home game in 77/78 when the met used a helicopter at a football match for the first time, I was only nine and taken by my dad but can still remember as our train pulled into Upton Park there was on on the other platform just pulled in full of millwall.
Absolute bedlam on the way to the ground I'm taking hundreds of grown men fighting in the street, my dad asked a mounted copper if we could walk beside him to the ground which he let us do thankfully
Any trouble I've seen after that hasn't come close including trips to the old den , personally I've found Newcastle to be the most intimidating of places probably followed by leeds but I'm going back a good few years.
